CANADIAN SKI & SNOWBOARD VACATION EXPERTS

Is a winter ski vacation for you and the family on your family’s bucket list? The choice of a Canadian ski holiday, a road trip through British Columbia, and snow adventures, is tempting, especially at our favourite family ski resort — Sun Peaks Resort.

You’ll need to get your skates on though, with winter already dusting it’s white coat across the mountains. There’s still time to pack the bags, dig out the ski gear from your basement, and pull out all your winter layers and head to one of British Columbia’s most loved ski resorts – Sun Peaks.

Due to limited numbers permitted each day as part of the resort’s COVID-19 safety protocols, we’re recommending you must book ahead this winter. Browse through our website to purchase lift tickets and book accommodation. We will guide you on the best place to book your ski holiday and pull together the best Canada ski package this side of the Rocky Mountains!

Our favourite reasons to stay and play at Sun Peaks Resort this winter:

1. No Crowds

The vast terrain means one thing for sure—you’re bound to get tons of space to yourself. A lack of crowds combined with wide open spaces have been a source of praise for years from dedicated skiers and locals. You’ll love getting fresh turns all day long!

Being the second largest ski area in Canada, Sun Peaks is known for 360 degrees of skiing and boarding that expands over three mountains, offering up a 4,270-acre (1728 ha) playground. From steep and deep powder, to long cruisy groomers, there is truly something for everyone.

Sun Peaks ski-through village is located at the base of all three mountains, which makes accessing the lifts quick and easy so you can enjoy more time on the hill.

2. Adventures and activities

Not a skier or snowboarder? No problem! There are so many things to do in Sun Peaks. You can still have the best Sun Peaks adventure and experience.  There are 23 miles (37 km) of groomed and track set Nordic trails. Or you can try your hand at ice fishing, ride a horse-drawn sleigh, go tubing, ice skate, take a snow bike lesson, go on a snowmobile tour, a dogsled tour or a snowshoe tour – the possibilities are endless!

3. Alpine Fondue & Night Skiing Starlight Descent

This is a must do for those looking for a night skiing experience like no other. After the mountains have fallen silent for the day, you’ll board the Sunburst Express chairlift for an exclusive twilight ride to the mid-mountain restaurant. A warm welcome awaits. Be struck by the stunning views of sunset while darkness falls across the resort.

Rich on European inspiration, savour this Swiss-style hearty three course fondue meal — rich cheese, mouth-watering cuts of meat, and, of course, decadent chocolate.

After dinner, one last treat beckons. Walking out into the alpine evening will reveal a freshly groomed 5 mile (8 km) ski run glittering in the moonlight. With the help of a head torch and a guide, you’ll click into your bindings and descend back to the warm glow of the village lights, while a myriad of stars blaze overhead in the crisp mountain air. Rumour has it, the guides have never lost a guest yet!

4. Picture yourself at Sun Peaks with your family bubble

Family has never been more important, than right now. As part of your Sun Peaks ski holiday package, consider booking a photo shoot at Sun Peaks Resort with a professional on-mountain photographer.

Whether you’re looking for an action shot of you on the mountains, or the perfect backdrop for a family portrait, the professional photographers can deliver the goods.

5. Best day ever! Experience heli or cat skiing

OK, this may not be for everyone in your family, however this is a bucket list item to tick off, for those so inclined.

This winter, discover some of the most pristine and breathtaking mountain terrain, with heli-ski partner Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing (MWHS), in Blue River, BC, located only 3 hours north of Sun Peaks Resort.

MWHS’s 1.5 million acre (404685 ha)  untouched terrain known as “Wiegele World” offers world class powder skiing and boarding, unlimited vertical and unique boutique style accommodation – right in the heart of the Cariboo, Monashee and Rocky Mountain ranges. We can get you there. Yes, we can!

Sun Peaks heli or cat skiing

For guests who are new to backcountry skiing, Mike offers a relaxed introduction to powder skiing and mountain safety skills. Using a snowcat for uplifts instead of a helicopter, they help you build skill and confidence in all types of terrain with private lessons from a fully certified ski instructor/guide.

It’s the perfect introduction for Wiegele first-timers. We can organise it, to get a taste of the world’s best heli-skiing experience.
