CANADIAN SKI & SNOWBOARD VACATION EXPERTS

Whistler Blackcomb

“We had the chance to stay in Whistler from December 11th to 18th. What a fantastic time to go!

We arrived into the village very late at night after a long travel day – and what a stunning welcome we received. Whistler village was so beautifully decorated with lights for the holidays – it felt so magical and inviting. We stayed at the Blackcomb Springs and Suites hotel, which has a phenomenal ski-in, ski-out location and is the hotel located furthest up Blackcomb Mountain. We love this hotel for the location and its amenities and would definitely return to this hotel if we go back to Whistler.

The rooms are spacious (we had a 2 bedroom suite since we are a family of 4 and were staying a week – with all of our ski gear, we wanted to feel comfortable as we relaxed in our room. We had a very large balcony off our living room, as well as a smaller balcony off the main bedroom. We were fortunate to have great views of the ski runs and it was fun to be able to see each other skiing into the hotel if we happened to be in the room already. Having a full kitchen was so handy and easy for us to make all of our meals that we wanted to. Huge time and money savings. We really enjoyed the outdoor hot tubs and the kids loved the heated pool – it was a fun way to unwind and relax our tired legs after skiing.

The other great thing about this hotel is that there is a bus stop right out front that takes you as far as the Whistler gondola exchange so you can easily get to all the shops and restaurants in the village. You can connect to the other bus routes here too. This is one of the best features of Whistler in my opinion – the free transit busses that allow you to travel with ease throughout the village, since it is quite large. The buses run regularly and are very convenient and clean.

Whistler village is so well laid out with ample retail and restaurants, as well as a few grocery stores throughout. We took advantage of the grocery delivery through Fresh Street Market and were so impressed with the quality and accuracy of the order.

The one activity other than skiing that we did was Vallea Lumina. We had heard great reviews of this activity and would highly recommend. We were not sure what to expect but we were in awe of the experience and really enjoyed it. It is hard to give an accurate description of this, but we really felt as though it so many senses were being stimulated all at once – the beautiful lights and multimedia, the music that such a perfect addition, the fresh air in the forest – it was just great. It wasn’t a long walk through at all but so worth doing. We took the Whistler Taxi to and from, booking through their app was convenient and easy.

Lastly, the skiing. It was so much fun and great conditions and terrain. We are average skiers, with my ten year old being the most advanced and adventurous of all of us. There were so many hills we could all do and we were never bored of doing the same thing over and over. In fact, there are many areas we didn’t get to explore at all. We spent 4 full days skiing on Blackcomb and went over to Whistler twice. We felt really comfortable on Blackcomb and loved the terrain and views, plus the ease of skiing into our hotel for lunch. We made it to the top of 7th heaven a number of times and it really is such an incredible experience to be up there on that part of the mountain.  We always felt safe and loved how the resort was laid out.  We would highly recommend using a tracking app to see how many kms you have done as well as your elevation and speed. It was fun to challenge ourselves to go further each day.

And finally, booking through Ski Holidays and Tours was fantastic. Sue’s customer service is top notch. She made sure we were looked after every step of the way – checking in when we had landed and were en route to Whistler, as well as making sure we were enjoying our trip all week and that we were ok on our way home.  I really felt like it was a friend making sure we were having a good time. We know we will be booking with Sue again, and definitely want to return to Whistler at some point, but are also looking forward to exploring more of the skiing in B.C.”
