CANADIAN SKI & SNOWBOARD VACATION EXPERTS

There’s a reason why Whistler attracts travellers from around the globe; it’s North America’s largest ski resort, offering something to suit every skier and snowboarder – along with those who find their fun off the slopes, with a huge range of activities, après-ski options, shopping and restaurants.

If you’re planning your next ski holiday to Whistler, you’ll also be pleasantly surprised at just how budget-friendly it can be. There are plenty of budget-friendly accommodation options across the resort, with something to suit every mix of group.

Ski Resort

Whether you’re travelling solo, with family or a big group of friends, here are our top lodging picks for Blackcomb and Creekside. (Or click here for our favourite options in Whistler Village.)

Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler Blackcomb is like the slightly older, more sensible sibling of Whistler Village; just as wonderful, with easy access to the slopes via the gondola, but a little more low-key than the main Village. Which is perfect if you don’t plan to be bar-hopping most nights, or fine even if you like an après tipple; Blackcomb is only about a ten-minute walk away from Whistler Village or jump on a short shuttle.

Packed with great accommodation options, here are some of our favourites.

Fairmont Chateau Whistler

It’s tough to go past the magic of the Fairmont. This award-winning luxury ski-in, ski-out hotel is right next to the Blackcomb gondola. Choose from luxury hotel rooms or suites and expect the very best of concierge services, fantastic dining, ski valets and slopeside whirlpools to rest your weary legs. You can even elevate your experience by upgrading to the Fairmont Gold, although be warned – you will never want to stay anywhere else other than Fairmont across Canada.

Blackcomb Springs Suites

For ski-in, ski-out, you can’t go past the Blackcomb Springs Suites. Nestled right into Blackcomb Mountain, it happens to be one of the only properties across Whistler with a ski run right outside the door. Choose from studio, one and two-bedroom suites; if you’re staying for a little while, opt for the suites to enjoy a full kitchen, dining, and living area with a gas fireplace. It’s even pet-friendly in case you want to bring your furry friends along.

The Aspens on Blackcomb

If you like your ski vacation with a heavy side of relaxation, you need The Aspens on Blackcomb. Not only is it ski-in, ski-out, you can head straight to the heated pool and hot tubs to unwind after a big day on the mountain. Anything from studios to three-bedroom apartments is available in this good-value-for-money option, ideal for those who’d like to cater most of their own meals – when you’re not sampling the restaurants of Blackcomb or Whistler village, of course.

Creekside Village

Still want to be close to the action, but in a location that’s a little more low-key?
Creekside is the perfect location for those looking to save some cash on their accommodation but still easily access the slopes. It’s especially well-suited for those with children as many of the options include family-friendly facilities.

The Creekside Express Gondola services the area, allowing you to experience everything Whistler and Blackcomb have to offer; plus, there are still plenty of restaurant options to enjoy by night. To get to Whistler Village, it’s an easy 10-minute bus ride (the fare is only a toonie or two – that’s equivalent to a couple of dollars) or five-minute taxi ride.

Legends, First Tracks & Evolution

For an accommodation experience that won’t leave your wallet weeping, there are three hotel options that are all equally well-priced and just steps away from the Gondola.

They each offer a variety of accommodation options, including one, two and three-bedroom suites. All have hot tubs and pools to entertain the family, plus kitchens to provide for some of your own meals via the local grocery store. Some even offer an in-suite washer/dryer, perfect for when you’re rapidly running out of ski socks.

Legends Hotel is the most central of the three, just steps away from the local après bars. Evolution is the most modern of the three, with a sauna, steam room, fitness centre, games room and media room. And First Tracks Lodge is a very short walk from the gondola, making it that much easier to get on the slopes in the morning, even with little ones in tow.
