GETTING THERE

Club Med Charlevoix is super easy to access. Just  90 minutes from Québec city airport – Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) with direct flights from New York and Vancouver.  Further away is Montreal airport – Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL), approximately 3.75 hours’ drive – with direct flights from domestic and international cities.

transfers:

Montreal Airport (225 min.) Québec Airport JEAN LESAGE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (YQB) 90 min

If you include your air travel with your Club Med package, airport transfers from either airport are included in your ‘all-inclusive’ package.

Charlevoix’s vision of sustainable, eco-friendly development builds partnerships and drives local economic and social spin-offs. Our goal is to offer alternate, safe and respectful public transit.

drive:

A road trip across the province of Québec, is a suggestion we share with many clients, to truly see the landscape. As winter dons her white blanket of snow, the landscape transforms into a winter wonderland, spectacularly beautiful. The St. Laurence River freezes and becomes a white carpet rolled out ready for winter adventurers arrival. Winter is not just a season, it’s a way of life that the locals love and embrace, and you too can immerse yourself in the Québecois way of life.

All motorized road vehicles registered in Québec  must be equipped with winter tyres, from December 1 to March 15 inclusive, and we recommend you request winter tires if renting a vehicle. In Québec, every child in a motor vehicle must be in a car restraint that is appropriate for the child’s height and weight until the child reaches 4.7 ft (145 cm) in height or 9 years old. It is illegal to use a car seat purchased in another country.

train:

Train de Charlevoix operates a timetable of short train trips through the Charlevoix region. This unique experience in tourism – a spectacular one in fact – between Québec City, Côte de Beaupré and Charlevoix’s coastal towns and villages is always a must-do with families.

For a day off the mountain, consider a train journey to Magnificent Baie-Saint-Paul. Known for having the most art galleries per capita across Canada, and was also named Cultural Capital of Canada in 2017. Come stroll down one of the charming streets in Québec, rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste, and dine at one of his many fine restaurants.

Enjoy Train de Charlevoix’s gorgeous riverside panoramas and discover Cirque du Soleil’s hometown, the time of an afternoon.

The history – It is by rolling eastward, in these landscapes both wild and grandiose that you can understand the isolation of Charlevoix at the end of the 19th century. Without an efficient road network, the region seems cut off from the world. We owe to Sir Rodolphe Forget the idea of building a railway linking Québec to Charlevoix.

In 1889, a first railway section was inaugurated, linking Québec City to Sainte-Anne de Beaupré. The steam train – nicknamed the train of the good Sainte-Anne – then allows many pilgrims to go to the Basilique Sainte-Anne de Beaupré. The inaugural trip to Baie-Saint-Paul will take place in 1918 while it will be necessary to wait until the following year to celebrate its entry in the station near La Malbaie.
