United Airlines has announced, it is flying high to bring back supersonic travel with a prototype, that is currently on the drawing board.
United hopes to carry passengers on the plane within this decade, slated to be airborne by 2029. The airline said the plane will reduce flights between London and New York area to just 3 1/2 hours. Just imagine, with connections from New York you can be at Whistler or Banff, same day, from the UK.
The airline indicated it plans to buy 15 jets in its’ first round of purchase, from Boom Supersonic once the start-up company designs a plane that flies faster than the speed of sound while meeting safety and environmental standards.
